Merry Christmas - With Outtakes

It was a true Christmas miracle - for the first time in 7 years, we managed one not too bad a shot of the dogs under the tree that included Gem the BC!
She hated the hat, and wouldn't look at the camera, but hey - she was in the picture!
Best of the bunch - we'll take it
Sybil has the hat, but not lovin' it much either
 Let the countdown begin.....
....and, we have liftoff!

The Future Looks Black

Well, it's been 5 years since we had a puppy around the place.  Sybil was the perfect puppy, obedient, quiet, compliant, easy to get along with.  Therefore, it must be time to cause a disturbance in the force (sorry, couldn't help the 'Star Wars' reference).
Shelly and I are flying to Texas at the end of January to pick up the little monster.  She offered to take her home with her and bring her back up on her normal summer visit.
We may wish we had taken her up on the offer at some point.  However, the little girl is already enrolled in Puppy Kindergarten at Oregon Dog Sports, so unless Shelly wanted to fly up every Wednesday starting the first week in February, looks like she will get her formal introduction to a rather wet and wild Pacific Northwest winter.
Let the mud races begin!

Happy 10th Birthday Cricket!

Ruler of Rowdy Bulls, Snubber of Smelly Sheep, Benevolent Dictator of the Dogs and staunch and fearless Defender of the Domicile, Cricket celebrated her 10th birthday December 11th by menacing the challah bread slated for the evening's Shabbat and pouting when made to lie down under it.
She did get a piece later that night

In Memorium - Dancer

4 July 2001 - 23 November 2014

Shortly after her best friend and brother Coup crossed The Bridge, Dancer left Sue and Marieke to go join him and reunite with all her brothers and sisters, mom and dad, grandparents and great grandparent.

Simply put 'Best dog ever'

Thank you, Dancer, for Cricket

These next three are hysterical - trying to get the 'goodbye' shot of a canine gas molecule.  That great grandma Morgan didn't just bite her head off was amazingly tolerant of her
My absolute fave shot of the old girl at 14 years

Deb and Joe's beloved big blue boy Coup crossed The Bridge just before Thanksgiving.  His mind and heart were sound as ever, but his aging body could no longer keep up.
He was greatly loved by all and will be dearly missed

Watchdog Set

Out in the south pasture, before the storm series started, cleaning up around the fallen old oak tree, Cricket takes on the job of fending off interference from the herd

A coupla of the cows have spotted her
 Momma Ruffie now spots her
Cricket is eyeing I think that's Bert off to the left
Aaaand, baby Gerry has to try it

He got close enough to get a blast of eye and decide maybe he didn't really wanna go there after all
Intensity, thy name be Cricket
